MOIRA

a screenplay by Alan Black

Moira plays with the comedy within faith,

religious and otherwise.

It’s a darkly humorous tale of a modern girl

who’s due to inherit her family’s powers over death.

It encompasses peculiar and fantastic elements

while being told within the familiar confines

of the coming-of-age tale.

Moira and her friend gab while evil forces gather.

Moira’s divorced parents are full up

on both advice and advanced weaponry.

Their opponents, a decidedly odd bunch,

blithely accrue a list of terrible deeds

all the while appearing incapable of simpler acts,

like speaking plainly or expressing empathy.

Moira is a strange world, indeed.
